A Kamashi (craftsman who found Japanese tea cauldron) in Osaka.
He was born at a famous Kamashi family as the second son of Minosuke Kakutani. Ikkei Kakutani,the Living National Treasure was his older brother. From his childhood, he helped his father and learned how to make Japanese tea cauldron.
His original and innovative design of tea cauldrons received high evaluations and he was known as master of the old pine tree pattern. He received many prizes including the Merit Award of Arts and Crafts in Osaka Prefecture. He died in 1987 at the age of 76.
