A traditional hand-tied cord invented by Toshitaro Goshima, a Intangible Cultural Property artisan.
Gotohimo cord is famous for its great usability, easy to tie and hardly comes loose, because it is produced with the same methods of codes for warrior helmets in the Sengoku period (period of warring states).
In 1960, Gotohimo cord was designated as an Intangible Cultural Property by the Agency for the Cultural Affairs.
