[Kikko Ware]
A style of Japanese pottery that was invented early 19th century. Today there are 2 Kikko ware kilns in Hirakata city and Higashi Osaka city in Osaka. Generally it has Kochi ware style and they have made Japanese tea equipment after 6th generation master.
Takebei TODA who was the descendent of Genbei Takayoshi TODA (a vassal of the KATO family who was the load of Iyo domain) liked pottery and invented Tobe ware in Iyo area, Shikoku island. Then he moved to Juso in Osaka and made pottery called “Juso Ware”. Takebei’s son, Jibei was given the art name “Kikko” from Tadakuni MIZUNO who was the keeper of Osaka castle at that time then he named his style of pottery as “Kikko Ware”.
Jibei was the first generation master of Kikko ware then his adopted son in Tokyo succeeded “Edo-Kikko (abolished in Meiji period) ” and Jibei’s son Kameji in Osaka succeeded “Osaka-Kikko”. At the time of the 5th generation master Chihei KIKKO, Kikko family divided into 2 families: “Shogetsuken Kikko” in present Hirakata city and “Jusouken Kikko” in present Higashi Osaka city.
[Jusouken KIKKO]
A Japanese potter in Osaka. The master of Kikko ware kiln. Each generations have succeeded the name.

He got an order from the Tokugawa family and he was given the name “Kikko” by Tadakuni MIZUNO who was the keeper of Osaka castle in 1803 and the mark of “Jusouken” by the load Mizuno in 1811.
He made his works in Juso village, Edo, Suzaka and other places. Died at the age of 78.
• Second Generation: Kameji KIKKO (1803-1843)
The son of the first generation Chihei. His art name was “Shogetsu”. He refined his skills under the first generation and made his works in Juso village. Died at the age of 40.

He refined his skills under his father and made works in Takazu shrine, Tenoji park, Katsumura village in Nara and Higashi Osaka city. He worked regularly for Ura Senke family.
He died at the age of 66.
• Eighth Generation : Jusouken KIKKO (1948-)
The present master. The 4th son of the 7th generation master. His real name was Ryoichi and his art name is “Jusouken”.
