[Kageaki KATO] (1899-1972)
A Japanese potter in Toki city, Gifu prefecture. His real name was Soichi.
He was the 12th generation master of the Mino Touso (founder of Mino ware). His ancestor is Kagemitsu Ichizaemon KATO who was moved Toki city from Seto in Azuchi Momoyama period and the son of Kagemitsu, Kagemobu who was the 1st generation of Mino Touso.
He mainly created Shino ware and won prizes at the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition in 1955 and 1956. He was designated as the Intangible cultural properties designated by Gifu Prefecture in 1958.
A regular member of Nihon Kogeikai (the Japan Art Crafts Association.)
He died on August 6th, 1972 at the age of 73.
