[Masamitsu MIKUCHI]
A potter, who was born in Yamagata prefecture in 1973.
He values the traditional technique of potteries above everything else, so his works are very simple. That is character of his style.
His works are chagamas (teakettles), iron kettles, sake bottles, tsurikusaris (iron chains to hang a chagama in tea ceremony), and so on.
In 1978, he was awarded with Nihon Kogeikai (Japanese Art Craft Association) Tokyo Branch Award at Dento Kogei Musashino-ten (Tradition and Craft Musashino Exhibition). His works also have been nominated at Nihon Kinkou Shinsakuten (Japan Metalwork New Work Exhibition) and Dento Kogei Shinsakuten (Folkcraft New Work Exhibition) several dozen times.
