[Seiryudo KATSUO]
A Japanese potter.
First Generation (1906-1984)
Seiryudo I was born in Hiroshima prefecture in 1906. He aimed to be a Western painter however he was attracted to pottery and moved to Gojyozaka in Kyoto to be a potter.
Seiryudo I mainly created incense burner, flower vase and ornament and did his activities mainly in Bunten Exhibition before the war and Nitten Exhibition and personal exhibitions after the war.
Died in 1984 at the age of 78.
Second Generation (1928-)
Seiryudo II was born in Gojyozaka in Kyoto in 1928 as the son of Seiryudo I.
He learned pottery skills under his father then later refined his skills under Tansai Kato and Takuou Hayashiya.
Seiryudo II established his kiln in Shigaraki, Shiga prefecture in 1981 and has held his personal exhibitions in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and other cities in the country since 1997.
