[ Unrinin Houzan]
An Awata ware potter.
The name "Unrinin Houzan" has been succeeded after the 9th generation.
1955 The first generation Unrinzai Youzou moved to Kyoto from Shigaraki, Shiga and started to make ritual articles.
1945 The 7th generation Fumizo moved to Awazu and established the kiln of Awatayaki.
1660 The 9th generation Yasube was given the art name "Houzan" by the Buddhist priest Tankai who opened Houzanji temple at Mt. Ikoma in Nara. He settled to succeed the name "Houzan".
1716 The 11th generation Bunzo created Tuishu and Tsuikoku (carving patterns such as flowers and birds on thick lacquerware).
1770 The 12th generation master Kumanosuke created Dutch style and celadon ware.
1795 The 15th generation master Kumanosuke created "Daibutuden Chawan" .
1820 The 16th generation Bunzo was given the art name "Taihei" by Shorenin temple in Awawa.
1844 The 17th generation Kumanosuke was given the art name "Shohei" by Imperial Prince Arisugawanomiya.
1908 The 19th generation Tainosuke studied under Chikuon TAJIKA, a Japanese painter and he was given the name "Koudai". He succeeded the name of Hozan in1930.
1938 The 20th generation Akiyuki learned pottery under his father. Keeping the traditional methods of Kyoyaki, he tries to create graceful works.
