[Takeshi UKITA] (1933-)
A Japanese potter in Kyoto.
After he graduated from the Department of Ceramics industry of Fushimi High School in Kyoto, he trained techniques of pottery under Einosuke KAWAI( a famous potter in Taisho/Showa period) and Rokubei SHIMIZU (a famous Kyoyaki potter).
He won many honorific prizes at many exhibitions such as the special prize for twice at Nitten Exhibition, the Prize of Japan Modern Industrial Arts and the Prize of Foreign Minister at Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition.
His work was invited to Japan Switzerland International Ceramic Art Exhibition in 1977 and exhibited in major cities in Switzerland. One of his works named “Sou (blue)” at the Exhibition became to be owned by Berlin Museum.
“Ibuki” was purchased by Nitten Exhibition in 1958, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had purchased his works “Akai Utsuwa (red vessel)” in 1966 and “ Aoi Utsuwa (blue vessel)” in 1980.
He was a judge at Nitten Exhibitions, Kyoten Exhibition and Japan Modern Craft Art Exhibition and now he is a member of the Kyoto association of craft artists and the Kyoto association of Artists.
