[Izushi ware]
Japanese porcelain produced in Izushi-cho, Hyogo prefecture. Most works are white porcelain pieces with intricate relief carvings. The style was developed in the mid-Edo period by Imari ware potters (they were invited to the Izushi domain on account of the large porcelain deposits there).
Izushi ware was designated the status of Traditional Japanese Craft in 1980.
