[Shinobu KATO]
A Japanese potter in Tajimi City, Gifu prefecture. The master of Shinobu pottery studio.
He was born in 1926. After studying under Sakuzo HINENO (a ceramic designer), he refined his pottery skills at Sanagai Ceramic Experimental Station. He established his pottery studio in 1961 after he worked at Mie Prefacture Ceramic Experimental Station and Tosa City Ceramic Experimental Station.
He won several prize at Nitten Exhibition and Modern Japanese Ceramic Arts Exhibition.
The folder of an important intangible cultural property designated by Tosa City.
The member of Mino Potters Association.
