[Kamakura-bori/Kamakura carving]
A type of lacquered products with sensitive carved motifs produced in kamakura city, Kanagawa prefecture. It was designated as "Traditional Crafts" by the Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry in 1979.
Kamakura carving was originally lacquered Buddhist altar equipments invented by sculptors of Buddhist images.
