1. Place the center of the Heko obi on the abdomin.
Fold the obi horizontaly.
Make sure the folded closed part goes to the bottom,
not the top.

2. Wrap the obi twice.
Cross the obi on the back. Pull the obi tightly and bring it back to the front.

3. Tie the obi. Before tying, make sure the length
of the both obi ends are the same. Cross tie them on the front tightly so that the obi won't be loosen.

4. Fold the one end into "wa" (loop part). Bring the other end over the "wa".

|
|
5. Make a bow.
The size of both "wa"(loop parts) must be the same. Please make the bow tightly so the obi does not get loosen.

6. Take one " Tare" ( ribbon end ) and pull it out of the knot from the bottom. Do the same with the other ribbon end.
|
|
|
|
7. Shapen "hane" (wing parts) and "tare" (ribbon ends). Open the wings and make the ribbon ends cover the wings evenly.

8. Slide back the bow part to the back. Hold the obi and make the slide movement is from the right to the back. If done opposite, the front collar wrap part will break.

|
|
9. Make sure the front obi part is open evenly and looks beautiful.
|
10. Use "Mae ita" (Thin flexible plate) if available and tuck it between the obi for more stability.
Mae ita prevents loosening of obi.
